Rylie's Guide to San Pedro
I spend a lot of time on this island soaking it in — the food, the coffee, the water, the places most people walk right past. This is not an exhaustive list and it is not sponsored. These are just the places I keep coming back to, and the ones I find myself recommending to everyone I meet here.
Restaurants & Food
Beachfront
Ramon's Village
Right on the water with a setting that makes the food taste even better. A San Pedro staple — the kind of place you bring everyone you know who visits the island.
Local Flavor
El Fogon
Authentic Belizean cooking done the way it should be. Wood-fired, generous portions, and the kind of food that reminds you why eating local always wins.
Worth the Ride
Hidden Treasure
A little off the beaten path and absolutely worth finding. The name fits. One of those dining experiences that stays with you long after you leave the island.
Coffee Shops
Morning Staple
Sixteen Ounces
A solid cup and a great spot to start the morning. Consistent, well-made, and the kind of coffee shop that earns a daily visit without trying too hard.
Cozy Find
Farmhouse
Warm atmosphere, good coffee, and the kind of place that slows you down in the best way. A nice change of pace from the busier spots on the island.
Local Roots
Coffee de los Mayas
Belizean coffee with real character. This one connects you to the land — a reminder that great coffee has been part of this region long before it was trendy.
Bars & Nightlife
Island Staple
Truck Stop
The heart of San Pedro nightlife. Multiple bars, food vendors, live music, and open air energy that makes it impossible to leave early. Bring your tumbler.
Rooftop Vibes
Poolclub
Elevated in every sense. A rooftop pool bar with views over the island and a crowd that knows how to enjoy it. Best at golden hour and well into the evening.
On the Water
We Jammin' Boat Bar
Exactly what it sounds like — a bar on a boat. There is nothing quite like it on the island, and once you have been, you will understand why people keep coming back.
Water Activities
Non-Negotiable
Hol Chan Snorkeling
The marine reserve just off the coast of San Pedro is one of the best snorkeling spots in the world. Sea turtles, reef fish, coral formations — it does not disappoint.
Only in Belize
Shark Ray Alley
Nurse sharks and stingrays in water shallow enough to stand in. It sounds intimidating and ends up being one of the most memorable things you will do here.
Day Trip
Trip to Caye Caulker
A short boat ride south and a completely different island vibe. Slower, quieter, and worth a full day. The motto there is “Go Slow” — and they mean it.
